304/5 Phayathai Rd., Ratchathewi, Bangkok
Casa Lapin was started because one of its owner Surapan Tanta couldn’t find a decent cup of coffee in Bangkok. He found it, instead, in Chiang Mai, where he spent a year studying coffee, particularly the slower brew methods. Tanta’s research produced Casa Lapin, now in five locations around Bangkok, the biggest one located at Sukhumvit Soi 49. At this café/ bar/hipster haven, brews are taken seriously and beans are culled from all over the globe. Furnishings and fixtures are quietly stylish—Tanta is an architect by profession—and comfortable enough for an entire afternoon’s worth of chilling.
